Beach Days

Here's another quick blog post I've just put together, it may have been the quickest one ever.  The sun was shining for once in Carlisle, and the sky was clear blue and looked amazing, so myself, and my family popped out for a beach day to Allonby. And on my way out the door, I grabbed my camera for spontaneous beach pics. The weather here in the north west can often be rain most days so when there's sunshine we've got to make the most of what is left of summer.  The water was shallow, children building sandcastles and people were walking their dogs, skipping along hand in hand or dawdling with their children. I took some pictures of my sister which I thought looked pretty cool. Today was a day that made me smile as the sun was  out and being with my family instantly makes me happy!

What made you smile today?

V Festival

Time flies when you’re having fun, but here’s a few snaps from my amazing weekend at V Festival. This was my first time at V Festival and I am already planning on going next year.

AH! I couldn't get enough of all the good music!! I don’t think I’ve danced that much in like... ever. The best act who was there has to have been David Guetta and Rihanna! I've never really been a huge listener of David Guetta, but all the hype, lights and fireworks made it really good (well apart from the fact we were stood in between two mosh pits).  I loved it so much, I didn’t want it to end!! I’ll be back for next year, that’s for sure!  Anyway.. the best thing about the whole festival was having the opportunity to go to such an amazing surreal festival with a few of my extremely close friends where we could just go party and dance in the fields like no one was watching.

Life Update

Today was a big day for a lot of us in the UK since it was A-level results day. The day that we dread from the minute our exams are over. For many of us it is the day where many of our dreams are finally beginning to come true.

First up I just want to applaud you and give you a pat on the back for getting this far. Sixth form is hard and there is no denying it. We've all had are fair share of wobbles and lack of self-confidence. But look at how much you have done in the past few years, you did it!

If you know me, you'll know that there has been an immense amount of pressure. Since my AS results didn't go as well as I was hoping so I needed to turn it around this last year. I ended up having to resit History AS so I somehow had to do both years in one as well as resubmitting AS units for Art, which was stressful to say the least.  September last year when everyone is discussing which universities and courses they are wanting to apply to made me realise that I couldn't mess around and that I needed to work god damn hard if i wanted to get in to the university I wanted.

The hard work paid of and guess what!!

I will be moving down to Salford in three weeks time (it's so close OMG) and I'll be attending Salford University this September to do a TV and Radio Production course.

Thursday has been an absolute whirlwind of emotions, I think I just needed a moment to sit and write about the day. For those who are wondering I needed to get particular grades to get in to my firm university And I did it... I somehow managed to get a B in Art & Design and Media Studies and a D in History.

I am excited to start in September as its a new chapter and a new adventure ahead of me.

I hope everyone is as happy after results day as I am, but if not its not the end of the world, make a new plan and go and live it, no one is going to stop you. Congratulations to those who got their places and going off to the follow their dreams and I wish you all the best of luck.

New York almost feels like it was a world away now, but I still have lots of photos I want to share so I hope you don’t mind looking at yet again another post about The Big Apple .

I got far to enthusiastic walking around with my camera and it led to me being snap-happy when I was there. I ended up taking hundreds of pictures of skyscrapers and yellow taxis like that stereo-typical tourist you find in every city. I guess I just love photographing the moment to capture the memories as well as anything things that don't happen everyday in my life!

You're probably thinking I've already seen photos like these on your previous post but each photo I've taken is different and unique with their own story from that moment to tell.

New York Adventures

As many of you will already know because it's all I've talked about since I got back, but for those who don't last week I went to New York City for the week! How lucky am I!!

I fell in love this city the moment I stepped out of plane. Even driving from the airport gave me an excited feeling. I knew this holiday would be my favourite from the beginning. The first time I spotted the cityscape across the Hudson River, I couldn't help but smile. As cliche and cheesy as it sounds, I had Taylor Swift’s ‘Welcome to New York’ stuck in my head whilst driving through the streets of Manhattan to our hotel.

We stayed in the rather posh Roosevelt near the busy Times Square. Which meant our first night was spent strolling around Times Square, with lights that dazzled us and crowds so busy you could barely move.

Enough of me blabbing on about it all. Here is a selection of photos from our week away in New York.  I think I have more photos than days I was in the city to share with you, so I hope you’re as enthusiastic about The Big Apple as I am! But when you have views like those from the Empire State and Top of the Rock, blogger instinct takes over.

And so it begins...

Even more from New York coming soon!!

Packing For Summer in NYC

Packing to go on holiday can be such a nightmare. Especially if you're like me and you want to pack every single piece of clothing you own so you have back up options for a 'just in case... this happens '. Whenever I know I have something booked I instantly begin planning what I will need to take, that evolved into a packing list for what I would need for my week away in New York City.

NYC is a huge city with a huge presence. Depending on what you are going to be doing, whether you spend your time site seeing or venturing about like a local. The summers are usually hot, and sometimes (ok, usually) humid. I decided to go for a simple colour palette with a combination of dressy with casual elements, nothing too over the top.

I put together a few outfits that I will certainly be taking away with me. They are made up from the key staple fashion items and I've slightly altered some items transforming the looks. This is definitely of a summer temperate list but the same idea can be applied for different temps by adding layers such as over-sized sweaters, scarfs or jackets.

I hope this post is inspirational if you're heading to any city this summer and want to keep your outfits casual but with a sense of sophistication too. Comment below if you're going any where nice and which of the four outfits you would wear.

Lots of love

** please note that some items I have linked are not the exact items but are similar to what has been photographed. Only because some items of clothing are unavailable online anymore,  :(
